TENS – A COMPLEMENT TO WOUND HEALING

Placement of electrodes

Program: High and/or low-frequency

High-frequency: Place the electrodes on both sides of the sore on intact skin. Note: Observe caution if the patient has impaired sensitivity to touch. Regular treatments (for example 2 x 30 minutes daily) are a necessity for good results. Assess the treatment the entire time by measuring/photographing the wound.

Low-frequency: Place the black electrode at the base of the thumb (acupuncture point LI4) and the red one on the ulnar side of the hand, proximal to the little finger (acupuncture point SI3). It can be effective to combine high and low-frequency stimulation.
