Counterindications

1. Patients with a pacemaker, intracardiac defibrillator or other active implants must not be treated with TENS.
2. Exercise caution during the first trimester.
3. Never connect an electrode pair over the abdomen when pregnant.
4. Do not stimulate close to the glomus caroticus, on the throat near the carotid artery, as this can cause a drop in blood pressure.
